Ever wonder whether or not Pineapple Express is a type of weed? Well, in the movie we’re all told that it is a super rare bud that comes from the Hawaiian islands and has landed in California. Only one super crazy dealer has the stuff so panic ensues when they trace it back to a peddler that can pinpoint a guy who shot a cop.

Well, Pineapple Express does exist, but it’s nothing like you thought. It’s the name of a specific type of storm. That’s right. No Ganja involved. It’s the name of a storm when things get crazy on the west coast of California.’

Pineapple Express (also known as Pineapple Connection) is a non-technical, shorthand term popular in the news media for a meteorological phenomenon which is characterized by a strong and persistent flow of atmospheric moisture and associated heavy rainfall from the waters adjacent to the Hawaiian Islands and extending to any location along the Pacific coast of North America.

Bet you didn’t see that coming right? Well at least they referenced the actual term when talking about the bud. Here at Phi we educate you too!

Who doesn’t love Bill Murray? Everything he touches makes us just cry with laughter. Now if you’re one of those guys who just falls on the floor laughing whenever you take a hit, you have to see these movies again…ON WEED.

#10 – Stripes

Bill Murray goes in the army with Egon (his real name is Harold Ramis, but he’ll always be Egon to me) to score chicks and save the day from Russians. They kick major ass and drive around in a sweet van that has guns on the sides. You’ll be crying. Promise.

#9 – Caddyshack

This movie is a classic, but Bill Murray just makes it better with his relentless battle with the gopher. You know that gopher is technically a muppet? Anyway the entire movie is his ass chasing this thing around the golf course until he practically blows the whole thing up. The gopher is to smart for him, which is all good, because its implied that Murray is blazed the entire film.

#8 – Scrooged

It’s like Christmas on Acid. Bill is Uncle Scrooge who is this weird TV Executive trying to air a special of the Christmas Carol. Oddly enough, he lives the events as they’re being aired on TV, but its not quite like the show. Half this movie is him riding around in a taxi cab arguing with the driver, who is the ghost of christmas past. It tries to get touchy at the end, but it’s just hilarious.

#7 – Osmosis Jones

On weed, this movie will blow your mind. It’s not for the light stoner. Murray has these animated antibodies run around in him the entire film trying to protect him from an evil virus. He looks like complete shit the entire movie, but it’s all good because he just makes you laugh falling around everywhere. He almost dies at the end, but kicks back when Chris Rock (who is an animated blue antibody thing) shuts down the virus. The whole premise of being inside Bill Murray will just wig you out completely.

#6 – The Man Who Knew Too Little

Bill Murray plays a genuine idiot who just winds up either solving or creating gigantic problems. Think Forest Gump if it were realistic, or Mr. Bean but without sucking completely. At one point he befriends an elephant. I’d watch it just for that.

#5 – Little Shop Of Horrors

He’s only in this movie for like 4 minutes, but it’s a great scene. You’ll be watching it moseying along without a care in the world, when all of a sudden, Bill Murray appears! It’ll excite you and you’ll just smile when you see him. He’s getting his teeth extracted (or something) by Steve Martin and is in love with the pain. And when I say in love, I can’t stretch that enough. See it – you’ll see what I mean.

#4 – Kingpin

This is the only legit movie where Bill Murray plays a villain. He’s a professional bowler who tries to entrap his competition by getting Woody Harrelson’s hand chopped off. He dances around the entire movie being the best bowler in the world, living in mansions, dating super models, etc. It all leads back to the big climax at the end where he gets in everybody’s face.

#3 – Ghostbusters

I was thinking about making this number 1, but I’ve got a good reason for my top pick. This is considered his most famous role, but you have to see this on weed because of the stay puff marshmellow man. Slimer is all good, but really he’ll just get on your nerves. Mr. StayPuft will creep you out hardcore. You’ll feel like he’s chasing you down the streets of Manhattan, which is really awesome. Afterwards when he gets blown apart is even better, because then you’ll be thinking…

..Smores for everybody.

#2 – Groundhog Day

The trippiest Bill Murray movie ever. He relives the same day over and over and over again replaying the same events trying to get them exactly right. The beginning of the movie is the funniest once he’s trying to come to grips with what is going on, but once he starts trying to kill himself, it gets really funny. Try focusing on what’s going on while you’re high – it isn’t going to happen. You’ll be guessing the entire time what day it is, and when it does end, you’ll expect to see him hit the alarm clock and replay the day one more time. It’s a hell of an experience.

#1 – Ghostbusters II

Ghostbusters II takes the cake for the top movie to watch while on weed with Bill Murray. Really, it’s just a fantastic movie and a fun ride. But there are two main reasons you should see this high; two reasons that don’t even come close to anything in the list:

• Reason A – The Statue of Liberty

It walks off Ellis Island and starts parading across Manhattan to the tunes of Jackie Wilson. And EVERYBODY IS TOTALLY COOL WITH IT. Why? Because of Reason B.

A talking painting is trying to rule the world from…inside the painting. Try and fathom that for a bit. A talking painting, some magician from over 1,000 years back, is turning New York into hell, from INSIDE the painting. He’s also as creepy as creepy gets. And when the final battle happens and you see his giant floating head…just be prepared for it.

It looks like Bret isn’t as good as he says he is! The Celebrity Apprentice superstar just got some heat for some good old 420 action. Fortunately for him he had his rockstar credentials handy. He walked away from the whole deal with just a warning! Probably had to sign some autographs to keep the cuffs off!

Here’s the deal – He just rocked a show in Indiana and was heading to his next tour date when he got pulled over by the 4-1-1. Apparently he had a busted tail light (thats why you ALWAYS CHECK YOUR TAILLIGHT BEFORE LIGHTING UP!) and it was a big enough deal to get everybody out of the bus.

Well, as we all know, ganja has a distinct smell to it that attracts officers near and far. Luckily these guys just got a slap on the wrist. Who wouldn’t want to hear some classics from Poison?

Yesterday Family Guy celebrated 420 with the release of a new episode centered around the legalization of weed. Seth MacFarlane must do some serious toking himself when writing this show. The stuff he comes up with is downright hysterical and the 80′s pop culture references he is able to tie in somehow into every episode is just genius. Seth and the Family Guy Cast truly do know that, “Everything Is Better With A Bag of Weed!” And Phi Uppa Phatty Agrees! Enjoy!

Britney Spears walked off-stage last night and refused to return unless audience members “stopped smoking marijuana”
Either she’s crazier than I thought or perhaps just not that bright.
Drinking like a fish, smoking cigarettes, doing lines of coke, shaving her head, looking like a nutcase in every tabloid for months, loses custody of her kids… but, while performing a concert in Vancouver (of all places), she walks off stage until the cannabis smoke clears and she tells her paying fans not to smoke weed? Is she stoned?
